Bosch Blue launches world first wireless charger
The power tool industry is always evolving, with new technologies constantly being introduced that are shifting the way tradies work. Bosch Blue has changed the way tradies will work and charge their power tools, with the introduction of its world first Power Ready Wireless Charging Technology.
Launching this June, the new technology for cordless power tools means tradies are always power ready and can continuously work with just one battery. Bosch Blue’s Power Ready Wireless Charging Technology is developed especially for stationary users in workshops and assembly lines who are continuously driving, drilling and sawing throughout the day.
How does the technology work?

Bosch’s technology is based upon the concept of ‘induction charging’. When the charging station is plugged in to a worksite and a compatible wireless battery is placed on it, the charger detects the presence of the battery in under a second and starts emitting a magnetic field. The alternating magnetic field penetrates the battery’s internal copper coil inducing voltage and charging current into the cells until they are full.
Each charger features Foreign Object Detection (FOD), a key safety feature which detects when any conductive foreign objects are on the charging pad. If detected, FOD will prevent the charger from turning on until all foreign objects are removed. This eliminates the risk of metallic or conductive materials such as nuts, bolts, washers, or nails from heating up through the charging cycle. The Power Ready Wireless charger not only comes standard with FOD, but is also completely sealed to protect it from dust and moisture meaning less risk to the charger and less risk to tradies.
As the battery and charger are in constant communication throughout the charging process this ensures a proper charge and prolongs battery life.
For the modern day tradie, the Power Ready Wireless Charging system doesn’t just revolutionise battery and charging technology, it reinvents workflow and power management. Currently, tradies’ work stations are covered with multiple charges, power boards and power cords, which presents a serious risk to not only their safety but to others on the jobsite.
Specifically for the manufacturing industry, eliminating process waste time and lost productivity has never been more important. Time lost due to battery switch over, increased outlays on multiple batteries and cumbersome inventory management are all unnecessary strains on a sector already dealing with the pressures of tough economic conditions.
Power Ready Wireless Charging provides an effortless solution to minimising worksite downtime, making tradies more efficient and saves them money on purchasing multiple batteries.
Watch this space for the launch of the Bosch Blue Wireless Charging Technology offering tradies the option to conveniently charge and store their tool when on the go and driving in between job sites.
The components of the Bosch Power Ready Wireless Charging System include:
GBA 18V 2.0Ah MW-C – The GBA 18V 2.0Ah MW-C is a SlimPack 18V 2.0 Ah battery that combines the advantages of wireless charging with renowned Bosch battery technology. This battery has a charge-level indicator and is equipped with industry-leading Bosch CoolPack technology, which improves heat dissipation and extends battery life by up to 100%^. High-efficiency cells help users maximise productivity on the job by delivering 65 percent more runtime versus 1.5Ah packs. As part of the Bosch’s Flexible Power System, the battery is compatible with all Bosch 18V power tools and chargers for maximum flexibility. Users can expect the addition of the GBA 18V 4.0 Ah 18V Fat Pack in late 2015.
GAL 1830 WC – Wireless Charger will charge the GBA 18V 2.0Ah MW-C 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes and 100 percent in 50 minutes (from empty). It features charge status indicator lights for easy recognition.
Charging Frame – Available with all Bosch Power Ready Wireless Charging System kits, the charging frame is designed to mount the charger to workbenches, shelves, side walls or other work surfaces, and serves as a flexible and secure holder for the battery or tool and battery (on horizontal surface).
