Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) has launched myCSQ, a new app that lets Queensland tradies keep track of their career and work experience on their phones.

The myCSQ App is available for free download on iOS and Android stores, and offers a range of features to help tradies track their training and build their resumes. The App means tradies and apprentices can capture their work experience on the go, recording details from each job site straight to their phone. With the touch of a button, they can send a resume to prospective employers, request an endorsement, and tag their status, skills and location.

In addition to career management tools, myCSQ allows Tradies to share information and connect with each other. The App includes a jobs board (powered by BUSY At Work) and allows tradies to share information and connect with each other using the online message board. In the Tips and Tricks section of the app, Tradies can post how-to-videos and instructional photos.

The App’s news feed and events calendar will help keep building and construction workers up to date with the latest industry developments and trends. CSQ’s Chief Executive Officer, Brett Schimming, said the myCSQ App will help construction training in Queensland move into an exciting new era.

“We wanted to connect with people who are taking part in training or are out on the tools. Our App means we can be in the pockets of our industry”, he said. “Tradies usually have their phones with them, which means they can quickly record job details using the App, and avoid scratching their heads trying to remember names and sites at a later date.”

“The App has been made with tradies in mind, but will also be useful for anyone starting out in the construction industry, like school leavers and apprentices.”

Brisbane local ‘Rusty’ Routledge is a qualified sheet metal fabricator who has been working in the industry for 10 years and owns his own business Rusty’s Metal Workers. Rusty said the myCSQ app offered some great practical benefits for tradies.

“The digital resume is a great idea and the job search function is going to help connect more apprentices and employers. I think back to when I was a young apprentice trying to find my feet in the industry, it would have been great to track my training and career over the years. As someone who’s now been in the industry awhile, I’ll be using the App for news and updates, and I like that I can offer my advice to younger people through the message board,” he said.

Brett said the new app was part of CSQ’s focus on supporting Tradies across the state. “CSQ is committed to helping Queensland’s construction workforce to develop and grow their skills. The App is made with Tradies in mind, and will follow you throughout your career.”
