NECA’s New National President
In accordance with the provisions of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 and the Rules of the organisation, Dave McInnes (Queensland) was declared President of NECA. In the context of office bearers, Dave will be supported by Mike Green (Western Australia), who remains as the Vice President and Jim Heerey (Tasmania) who remains as Treasurer.
Mr McInnes, the Managing Director of Blue Star and President of the NECA Queensland State Council, succeeds the outgoing President, Wes McKnight from Victoria. Wes will remain a member of the National Executive.

Dave McInnes has more than thirty years of experience in the industry and founded Blue Star over ten years ago. He is highly regarded across Queensland and Australia and under his stewardship, Blue Star have received a host of National Excellence Awards.
Mr McInnes has served as the Queensland President for three years and will continue to serve this role in line with the National Presidency.
“I am keen to work with the national executive committee and the CEO to continue to build upon the strengths of One NECA. I am a firm believer that One NECA will allow us to capitalise on the many challenges and opportunities ahead of us – challenges including VET reform, energy efficiency, compliant products and licencing mobility,” he says.
Dave McInnes paid thanks to the hard work and efforts of the outgoing President, Wes McKnight.
“Wes has left a solid legacy and has been a great contributor to NECA, via his membership and Presidency of the Victorian and National Executives for many years. I wish to thank him for the energy and commitment he volunteered throughout his term and I am grateful that he will continue to remain a member of the National Executive.”
