Emerson Network Power eyes bigger market share in Asia Pacific
An industry veteran having spent more than 20 years with Emerson Network Power, Shelley will now head the newly-created modular solutions department; a strategic response to the increased interest for such offerings in the market.
“As businesses across the region race to meet the unprecedented demand for more data, improved performance, and faster, more consistent deployment, modular solutions have emerged as the clear answer to meet the deployment needs for critical infrastructure,” says Stephen Liang, group vice president of Emerson Network Power in Asia Pacific.

“Leveraging Steve’s experience from our successful deployment of the NBN project in Australia, the newly-assembled business group aims to further refine our design and delivery capabilities and extend our lead in delivering these solutions for Emerson Network Power in the region.”
In 2011, Emerson Network Power announced a landmark $100 million contract to design, supply, install and commission 10 network facilities centres across Australia as part of the rollout of Australia’s National Broadband Network (NBN). The project showcased Emerson Network Power’s comprehensive product suite, including high-efficiency power systems; Liebert® thermal management systems and SmartAisle optimisation; Liebert SiteScan infrastructure monitoring and management; and fully integrated, factory-tested modular housing systems. The products are complemented by Emerson’s in-house integration expertise, combining solution engineering, end-to-end project management, global supply chain and logistics, and site civil works.
Since then, containerised data centre infrastructure projects have been deployed by Emerson for two other large telcos in the region.
“This type of project – be it in terms of solutions, geographical scope and strict turnaround time – can definitely be replicated by Emerson Network Power anywhere in the world, and across various verticals,” Steve says.
“Containerised solutions are not new to the market, and they are most certainly not exclusive for the use of telecom operators. But as more businesses keep pace with the rapid growth of data and service demand, containerised solutions will play a key role in ensuring market players are able to roll out projects that are optimised to run efficiently, designed for maximum scalability, and planned around minimal CAPEX.”
Steve is representing Emerson Network Power in the annual Media Connect Kickstart Forum, a technology consortium that brings together media and subject matter experts to discuss burgeoning trends in the industry. This year’s iteration is scheduled February 16-18 at the InterContinental Hotel Sanctuary Cove Resort, Hope Island, QLD. Steve will share best practices on deploying containerised infrastructure projects, derived from actual projects that Emerson Network Power has completed.
