Pre-terminated fibre cables… the latest trend in cabling

Over the last 12 months, 4Cabling has seen a massive rise in sales for pre-terminated fibre cables. 4Cabling founder and managing director Nicole Kersh shares her reasons as to why they’re becoming the latest trend.

Pre-terminated fibre cables are factory terminated and tested fibre connectivity solutions, which enable installers to quickly connect system components together.

The National Broadband Network roll-out, the rise of Data Centres and a demand for increased bandwidth has led to pre-terminated fibre cables becoming popular across Australia.

Installers are also opting for pre-terminated cables due to the advantages that they provide.

They’re a cost-effective “plug and play” solution to installers, as they are shipped on a drum with a pulling sock ready to install – this means that the connectors aren’t damaged. As a result, the need to own expensive equipment, which is often involved in cable installations, is eliminated.

Tested at the point of manufacture, pre-terminated fibre cables have no termination errors. This allows an easy reconfiguration for moves, adds and changes.

Labour costs associated with the initial installation of connectors in the field are reduced when using pre-terminated fibre cables. Further costs associated in the future, like redoing work that has failed or can cause downtime, are also minimised.

Pre-terminated fibre cables are environmentally friendly. Using pre-terminated solutions cuts down the waste and consumable associated with splicing and uses less packaging material.

Since Fibre is not as expensive as it once was, pre-terminated fibre cables are now the affordable, practical solution to larger projects, especially as the market becomes more competitive.

4cabling.com.au founder and managing director Nicole Kersh started her company in 2006 after becoming frustrated with existing market inefficiencies and the reluctance of the industry to recognise it was operating on an outdated model.

Nicole quickly made her mark, establishing 4Cabling.com.au as a leading wholesaler and retailer of cabling and IT management accessories in Australia, specialising in voice, data, fibre, electrical cabling and server rack equipment.

Today, 4Cabling.com.au has more than 32,000 active customers and have sold millions of high-quality products to Australians and overseas customers.
