The Combined AC/DC charging system from Phoenix Contact is a solution for charging electric vehicles with direct and alternating current. Thanks to the inlet’s universal design, it is the only charging connector required for AC and DC.

The inlet is compatible with the combined DC connector type 2 and supports rapid charging with direct current while on the go, or with alternating current. The plug is designed for voltages of up to 850V and currents of up to 200A, meeting tomorrow’s requirements already today. The patented grip is ergonomically shaped and facilitates easy insertion and removal.

The system was developed together with six German automobile manufacturers: Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, BMW, Daimler, and Opel. The charging plug system received the ‘eCarTec Award 2012,’ the Bavarian state prize for electric mobility, at the eCarTec trade fair. The prize has been awarded for new developments in electric mobility since 2009.

With the new combined AC/DC charging system, Phoenix Contact is expanding its product portfolio in the area of charging plugs for e-mobility.
