IRWIN Tools Australia and New Zealand has just joined over 900 million users on the world’s largest social media network, Facebook.

Given there are well over 900 billion elements on Facebook, what does IRWIN Tools plan to bring to their page to engage their audience, including tradespeople, and give reason to befriend them? While they expect the page will change and adapt over time to suit user and business objectives, here is how they plan to kick things off:

• Thank a Tradie – to support the National Tradesmen Day, September 21 initiative, IRWIN Tools are giving away $10,000 to a tradie for the best story submitted on their website. Weekly prizes of $500 of IRWIN Tools are also being given away – with winners being posted weekly to their Facebook page. Nominators and nominees are encouraged to tag images and/or video’s to the IRWIN Facebook page to support the nomination.

• Further promotions will be run from time to time. If you’re from Sydney stay tuned for the Sydney Motorsports Park at Eastern Creek V8 Supercar tradie promotion.

• Ask Matt – IRWIN Tools’ resident training manager Matt Francis will be posting handy tips and will be online to answer any questions relating to IRWIN products.

• IRWIN Racing – while IRWIN Tools have a dedicated IRWIN Racing Facebook page any highlights from Lee Holdsworth or the IRWIN Racing team will be shared on IRWIN Tools Australia & New Zealand.

• Free Samples – IRWIN will be running trialling offers for many accessories.

• Events – find out where IRWIN Tools will next be exhibiting.

• Learn a bit about products by viewing some demonstration videos.

“Facebook is an ever-changing world of social and professional interaction and we believe there is a place for us here and know that many of our consumers are active users,” says IRWIN Tools Asia Pacific marketing director Laura Turnbull.

“We have a plan to ensure that our content is relevant, interesting and engaging. We don’t intend to be one of companies who establishes a page because someone thought it was a good idea and then let it fizzle out.”
