Smoke Alarm Guy helps prevent house fires
The program involves going into primary schools and teaching students about fire safety and burns treatments. Every participant of the program receives an educational BurnSafe bag to take home, encouraging students to discuss their learning with family.
This program incorporates an eight page children’s book called, Smoke Alarm Guy’s Fire Safety Activity Book for the students participating in this program.

The book is aimed at young children aged five to 13 and introduces a new character, Smoke Alarm Guy to deliver important messages in a style and method that a young audience can understand.
The activity book featuresinformation about house fires, anintroduction about smoke alarms, fire prevention tips, fun, interactive games and a fire escape plan and much more.
“Athough there are some fun aspects to the book, the fire safety messages are very real,” says Julian Burton Burns Trust chief executive and founder Julian Burton OAM.
“The good thing is that the book teaches kids about the dangers by getting them to think things through in their own home.”
A total of 15 000 copies of the book are to be printed. The first stage of the programme will see 2500 BurnSafe bags, including the Clipal activity book distributed to schools in the South East region of South Australia in June.
