Kicking goals for EJ
Now in it’s 17th year, around 26,000 people were at the oval to watch the game which is held in honour of Teddy Whitten, who died from prostate cancer in 1995. It is the main fundraising event of the E.J. Whitten Foundation, the 2012-13 Club Clipsal supported charity.
The game was won by Victoria in an entertaining match which saw Brendan Fevola kick nine goals, and subsequently named as player of the match. Joining him on the field was Captain of the Victorian team Anthony Koutoufides and Captain of the All Stars team Wayne Carey.

Club Clipsal was well represented at the game, with 110 electrical contractor members and Clipsal employees attending the official game dinner. For each Club Clipsal ticket sold, Clipsal by Schneider Electric donated $10 direct to the E.J. Whitten Foundation, and in his opening address Ted Whitten Jnr thanked Club Clipsal for their contributions.
“It’s a great feeling to support such a worthwhile charity,” says Graham Smith from Laser Electrical in Maryborough, Victoria.
“As well as hearing from some interesting speakers, the game itself was really entertaining. What more could you want? It is certainly a first-class event.”
Clipsal is supporting this great cause and working closely with Ted Whitten Jr over the next 2 years.
Although the game may have been won by Victoria on the points, the real winner of the day was the E.J. Whitten Foundation, raising around $90,000 for its cause.
