NHP’s DC isolators have been approved

NHP’s range of DC isolators has been approved as per Amendment 4 of AS/NZS 4417.2 Regulatory compliance mark for electrical and electronic equipment and are level 3 approved for use.

DC isolators are now a ‘Level 3’ piece of equipment under the National Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS) and are be required to meet stricter compliance requirements. Stemming from safety concerns, this change will better regulate the market and provide improved safety for users and consumers.

Readers should be aware that Amendment 4 of AS/NZS 4417.2:2012, which was published on 30 June 2017, introduced nine additions and changes to the classes of prescribed electrical equipment categories. These are now listed in Appendix B.

Of most importance to industry, in particular contractors installing PV systems, DC isolators are now classed as a Level 3 prescribed item (B.2.63).

It is an offence under Section 57 of the Electricity Safety Act 1998 to supply Level 3 or prescribed electrical equipment without being approved by an electrical safety state regulator or JAS-ANZ accredited third-party certifier.
