National Safe Work Month
Minister for employment, Senator Michaelia Cash has launched National Safe Work Month for 2017.
The event goes as a reminder to Australians that safe workplaces are the result of everyone sharing their knowledge and experiences when it comes to what makes a workplace safe.

“October is National Safe Work Month, a time to celebrate that Australia is one of the safest places in the world to work, but also a time when we all commit to building even safer workplaces,” says Senator Cash.
“We should be proud that our convictions pay off – the number of Australians killed at work each year has been steadily declining for a decade.
“But we cannot afford to be complacent. In fact, safety is an integral part of doing business.”
Senator Cash also wants workers in Australia to have work safety at the forefront of their minds, run safety initiatives and make sure they’re shared around on social media.
Safe Work Australia will be publishing information on these aspects as well as hosing two seminars on Building a bully-free workplace and WHS in major events.
A cash prize of $5,000 is also up for grabs to the organisation that’s putting the most into workplace health and safety throughout the month.
“Continue sharing safety knowledge not only during this important month, but throughout the year, because safety should be an everyday conversation in your workplace,” she says.
