Siemon’s building information modelling solutions meet architects standards
Network infrastructure specialist Siemon has announced the addition of building information modelling (BIM) solutions that meet American Institute of Architects (AIA) and National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) standards.
Now available on Autodesk Seek and accessible from the www.siemon.com website, the new standards-compliant BIM models are part of Siemon’s commitment to supporting architects and engineers with valuable education and tools.

Created via Autodesk RevIT, the de facto standard for designing and building BIM models, Siemon standards-compliant BIM solutions are optimised for size and directly linked to product specification sheets and related Siemon website pages. The suite of models is organised by product family to take the guesswork out of determining which components can be intermixed to accurately generate final RevIT designs. Siemon’s Data centre Design Services team also offers validation of final RevIT designs using Siemon’s standards-compliant BIM models.
“We have put significant design effort into making our infrastructure solutions for data centres, LANs and intelligent buildings easier to specify and incorporate into drawings and bid packages in a way that helps our customers decrease project cost, improve quality, reduce delivery time and ultimately win new business. Our new standards-compliant BIM models are a continuation of this effort,” says Siemon vice president of global marketing Robert Carlson.
“Network infrastructure components are rapidly becoming more of an add-on to building designs that simulate construction projects using BIM to identify potential design, construction or operation issues.
“This is especially the case in advanced data centres and intelligent buildings where there is a greater focus on the importance of accurately and effectively designing and deploying low-voltage infrastructure solutions in a way that ensures reliability, performance, and scalability.”
Siemon’s offering of AIA and NIBS standards-compliant BIM models include the company’s WheelHouse Advanced Datacentre Solutions and ConvergeIT Cabling Solutions for Intelligent Buildings, including copper and fibre patching, connectivity, cabinets, zone enclosures, racks and accessories.
